Pecan Praline Blondies

Brownie’s blonde sister with a classic Southern twist.

Ingredients

1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups coarsely chopped pecans

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×13 baking pan with shortening or line pan with parchment paper then grease parchment paper. In a medium sauce pan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in brown sugar and continue to heat, over medium low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. In large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt, and stir well. Add in egg, vanilla and warm sugar mixture making sure to combine completely. Fold in pecans. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Remove from oven when top is crisp and edges are starting to pull away from sides of pan. Let cool completely in pan before removing and cutting.
